Opus XXIII -- The Symphony Grand Ball
Saturday, November 10, 2007
The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra members, administration and supporters are again looking forward to Arkansas’ most elegant evening. Opus XXIII – The Symphony Grand Ball is a stylish night of fabulous silent and live auction items, delectable food, beautiful music – all the while supporting the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. The remarkable Opus XXIII will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Robinson Center Music Hall.
Hosted by Chairs Terri and Chuck Erwin, guests will enjoy the traditional elements that have made Opus such a presence in the community. Guests are treated to a spectacular symphonic evening reminiscent of a Carnegie Hall gala or an evening with the “Boston Pops.” An hour of cocktails and a boutique silent auction will begin the evening followed by an elegant gourmet dinner prepared and presented by Little Rock’s wonderful Restaurant 1620. The spectacular live auction will follow with amazing items for everyone, then dance the evening away with tunes provided by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Big Band.
Tradition dictates that the final live auction item be the Maestro’s baton. The successful bidder wins the opportunity to perform as guest conductor during the ASO performance of Stars & Stripes & Pops! with General Wesley Clark (Ret.) in March 2008. Thanks to our committee of silent auction volunteers, guests will have the opportunity to shop the
Opus XXIII – Boutique Silent Auction featuring more than 100 items with values ranging from $250 to $10,000.
Proceeds from Opus Ball support the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra music education programs and performances, which include the ASO Arts Partners, the Youth Orchestra, the Academy Orchestra and the Preparatory Orchestra. This event is an opportunity to sustain a vital part of the ASO’s future. Last year’s Opus Ball revenue was more than $560,000, which shows an extraordinary commitment to the ASO and its music education programs.
Opus XXIII is a grand evening not to be missed. Individual tickets are $350 and tables of 10 are $3,500. Premium Patron tables are also available for $5,000. Sponsors for Opus XXIII currently include American Airlines, Bank of the Ozarks, Deltic Timber, Terri and Chuck Erwin, Glazer’s of Arkansas, Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, Sissy’s Log Cabin, and Harriet and Warren Stephens, Stephens Inc.
