Violin

Violinist, Daniel Santelices joined the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in 2009. He is also a member with the Shreveport (LA) Symphony Orchestra, the Assistant Concertmaster of the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra and the programming director and performer with Baroque Artists of Shreveport. He has also played with the Lexington (KY) Philharmonic Orchestra, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Vermont Symphony Orchestra and as a violist with the Endless Road String Quartet for guitarist Tommy Emmanuel.

Santelices currently serves as Conductor/Music Director of the Hurley/Centenary Youth Orchestra (CYO) for Centenary College of Louisiana. He is on teaching faculty for the Centenary Suzuki School and is conductor the CSS Chamber Orchestra. Santelices’ past institutional associations include being: Violin/Viola Professor at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, Professor of Violin at Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Master-Teacher for the University of Kentucky String Project in Lexington, Kentucky and with Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Santelices is a recipient of the Suzuki Association of America Grants and is a guest clinician and conductor for the Green Mountain Suzuki Institute in Rochester,Vermont as well institutes and music camps across the country. Santelices is the Director of the CYO Chamber Music Program, which he founded in 1998. He has been a Guest Conductor for Caddo Parish's Elementary, Middle School and High School Honor Orchestras. Santelices was named to Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

Mr. Santelices received his musical degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins, University and Northern Illinois University studying respectively with Daniel Heifetz and Vermeer String Quartet member Pierre Menard. Santelices is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy. His interests outside of music include collecting vintage horse-racing memorabilia and playing racquetball, squash and tennis.
