Orchestra Librarian/Sturgis Academy String Teacher

The Orchestra Librarian is responsible for the acquisition, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of music for all ASO activities. This includes all ASO, Youth Orchestras, Full Time String Quartets, as well as run-outs, contracted services, auditions and special projects. This individual must have an in-depth knowledge of and understanding of the Master Agreement as it pertains to the services and deadlines required of the orchestra library. This position requires an individual who possesses the following qualities: a commitment to providing the highest level of service to the orchestra and its members, excellent organizational skills, an extremely high level of attention to detail, working knowledge of music suppliers, rental agencies, licensing authorities, and copyright laws, ability to interact effectively with the Music Director, orchestra musicians, guest artists, stage crew, and staff, and an understanding and appreciation of the ASO’s musical and financial goals.
Sturgis Music Academy String Teacher:
The ASO’s Sturgis Music Academy provides high quality string instruction to students between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. Teaching faculty at the Academy use methods and philosophies based on the teachings of Shinichi Suzuki, Paul Roland, and Mimi Zweig.
- Minimum of 20 hours per week
- Teaching a private studio and group classes at the Sturgis Music Academy
- Teaching outreach group classes for the Academy
- Providing services for other ASO education activities
- Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Music with previous teaching experience preferable
This is a regular full-time, 12-month, non-exempt position.
REPORTS TO: Music Director, Artistic Operations Manager, and Director of the Sturgis Music Academy.
COMPENSATION: $25,000 per year
