Katherine (Kater) Reynolds is the Principal Violist in the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and violist in the ASO’s Rockefeller String Quartet. She moved to Little Rock in 2000 to begin this new position. In addition to the orchestra and quartet positions, Kater is an adjunct viola teacher at UCA and Hendrix College, as well as maintaining a private studio teaching viola and violin.
Kater received her Bachelor of Music degree from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music and her Master of Music degree from SUNY Stony Brook. She has held orchestra positions in the Great Falls, MT Symphony (which was paired with a very vibrant professional string quartet program) and the New Mexico Symphony (Albuquerque.) She also played extra with the Santa Fe Opera for many summers. Her teachers have included Frederyk Sadowski, John Graham and Michael Tree. Summer festivals included Red Fox Music Camp, Sarasota Festival, Blossom Festival, Bowdoin Festival, and Norfolk (Yale) Summer Program.
